Yes. I realize I am digging this thread up. I am clarifying a question other 240sx owners may run into.
this thread comes up as one of the first handful of results when searching
"ka24de transmission sensor"

sikS13 is correct.
the difference between the KAE and KADE engines are the number of sensors.
the ka24DE has 4 sensors (all of which appear the same, but have different pugs).
the KA24E has 3 sensors.
and when I say that one has X number of sensors, what I really mean is:
the KAE has 3 HOLES for sensors and the kaDE has 4 HOLES for sensors.
interestingly, the KAE transmission appears as though the hole for that sensor was filled in.
this is despite the fact that it is an older transmission, and the sensor is on the "front half" of the transmssion (forward of the bolts that hold the transmission internals)
I am not yet sure what this sensor controls.....
and by that:
I mean I am not yet sure whether or not it is emissions related, or whether the ECU will throw a CEL if it is not connected.
if IT DOES, I recommend just connecting the sensor, and taping it up, even though it serves no purpose beyond telling the ECU it is there.
EDIT:
I also wanted to add that there appears to be no difference between a KA24DE speed sensor and a KA24E speed sensor.
they have the same plug, same diameter, same gear teeth ratio, etc....
This is not to say that they may be different electronically, but physically the same.
