Barely anyone replied or critiqued my parts-list for the upcoming rebuild, so I decided to take a different route with specific questions:
What is the difference between the Cometic HP and Cometic MLS head gasket, besides price? I know PhatKA-T sells the MLS...who sells the HP?
The fel-pro headgasket on ka24de.com is only for the 91-94 s13...but the cometic head gaskets that boost designs and phatka-t sells are for 91-98 ka24des...WHY?!?
Furthermore, are all of the aforementioned headgaskets the same OEM thickness, that is, if used with OEM pistons they'd yield a 9.5:1 compression ratio?
I know a lot of people say that the OEM head gasket is fine and that they'd rather have the head gasket go before a new set of forged pistons and rings, but I'm not planning on having EITHER blow, and would rather have a more "durable" head gasket. I'm only looking to run about 16 psi and 330 rwhp or so, but I'm purchasing a lot of parts that perhaps aren't necessary for the power level I want--my philosophy is that I'd much rather have an over-built engine (for example, I'm going with ARP head/main studs, stainless steel oversized intake and exhaust valves, toga HP main/rod bearings, etc).
Second question:
Where can I get OEM valve springs, retainers and seals? Courtesy Parts Does NOT sell them...Pinnacle Nissan does, but according to their site the valve springs are only like $4 a pop?!? Doesnt that seem extremely cheap? Are all of Pinnacle's parts OEM?
Third question:
Who has the best price on Toga HP bearings? I know BD sells them, but they're $225, and someone from the ka-t.org forums said he got his for only $69?!? Perhaps it wasn't a complete kit?!?
Fourth question:
Do CP pistons make a 9:1 offering for the KA24DE??
PPLLLEAASSSEEE HELP here...I need to start buying parts before I'm tempted to blow my cash on other stuff!
