Hi all. I had a real problem this summer blowing fuel injectors in my 92 S13. At first I thought I was having spark issues as all of a sudden the engine ran on three cylinders. After about an hour of playing with plugs and wires, I swapped a fuel injector for the hell of it. Problem solved... or was it?
The original engine died of lack of oil. I bought a 91 hatch for the engine and spare parts. My question is, is there a difference between the 91 and 92 injectors? Since then, I have blown the #1 injector (twice), the #2 and the #4. After the first three died I re-did all the engine grounds, replaced fuel filter twice, and ran a couple extra engine grounds. After all that, the #4 still went bad. If I hadn't blown the #1 twice I would be convinced the injectors are different, but I'm not sure. The replacement injectors have all come from the original 92 engine. The original engine had about 170k miles and the "new" 91 has about 150k miles. Other than a K&N filter, it's bone stock.
My problem now is that my brother snagged a complete fuel rail from a junk yard S13, but he can't remember if it was a 91 or 92. Would there be any problems if I put 91 injectors and 91 ECU in a 92 car? Both cars are manuals.
ANy help is appreciated.
