Hey everyone, i just bought a '11 3.5 SR Coupe a month ago. I was just curious what the SR trim designated exactly. i've seen others with SE and SE-R altimas but the SR seems to be more uncommon. why is that? and where exactly does it fall in the trim hierarchy? Thanks!

Welcome!
SE-R is a designation used for prior model generations and is no longer used.

In a nutshell the SE, SE-R and SR models are the "sport" models for the Altima throughout the years. Regarding the 2008-2013 coupe specifically the SR is the 3.5 V6 (CVT/Manual) variant that comes equipped with upgraded standard appointments, and which can also be fully loaded with all the factory options as well. I also notice more 2.5 variants of the coupe on the road. It's most likely due to it being more affordable and due to people preferring the fuel efficiency of the 2.5 variant. This also seems to be the case for the Altima sedan as well.

Oh kee gal hai putter?

Basically as above:

'02-09 Altima 3.5 V6 sedan/coupes with SE badge are the sportier version
'10-'12 Altima 3.5 sedan and coupe SE became SR
'05-'06 Altima 3.5 V6 SE-R were the rarer 6MT or 5AT sportier than the "SE" with more aggressive suspension, sideskirts/bumper/lights, +5 HP, 18" wheels, and leather. Basically the car I wanted REALLY REALLY bad but couldn't afford back then, and still wouldn't mind having one in good shape.

Lately after '13 or so I noticed (year can be '10+ too not sure) but the SE and SL badge are both replaced by simply the "SR" badge, and not just for Altima but Nissan's other sedans. The '07+ Sentra SR and SE both are basically lame ol' same ol' 2.0 with sporty *looks* but not the 2.5 engine from the SE-R. And with the new Nissan sedans you'll notice the "SV" badging which is basically an all encompassing "fully loaded sports/luxury" which isn't specific to my knowledge to what would be an SE/SR or SL.

Ser ghoom gya? ;)
