Diesel Fuel primer pump clogged any ideas

Hi all
Just have done a diesel fuel filter charge and this was in the fuel filter primer pump. Any ideas what it is and how to remove it I will post a picture of it if I can figure out how to work posting pics out .
My search on the net shows new ones to be really clean??
I will post a pic of the clean one I found on the net as wellif possible.
