What is the proper use of dielectric grease for electrical connections ? I'm about to do the plenum job, and intend to redo everything in sight down there. Does the dielectric grease go on cleaned contacts before assemby, or is it intended as a sealant after contacts are seated ? Is this stuff supposed to be conductive ? Also, what lubricants & sealants are best for fuel & coolant hose assembly ?

A dielectric is insulative by definition. The grease should go on the cleaned contacts before assembly. The goal is to surround the contact area with grease to prevent corrosion between the contacts. Don't know what to use on the hoses, but I've heard its best to not use anything petroleum-based, as those lubricants might dissolve the rubber. Not sure what isn't excluded, except maybe soap and "intimate lubes".

Oh boy... I can hear a debate now. "What's best for putting those PCV hoses back on my Q, and will that new KY Warming Gel cause my car to overheat?"

Seriously, I've heard that ATF is pretty good for hoses, etc - supposedly it won't hurt the rubber. Just something I heard though...
