maybe the force be with you.
but jeez, how late were you, you would have to be in quite a rush to leave your car on...
i would check the compression, and look to see where that coolant leak is from... maybe a water pump or hose.
yea...it was running for 3.5 hrs w/out a fan (my fan is manual)originalsin wrote:ok i am kinda confused, why isent ur car making power, it over heated??
because of the stories of the FWD DOHC waterpump breaking b/c of the clutch fan. <shrug>, one of my e-fan's turns on when the car turns on, and the other's wired to manual toggle switch.originalsin wrote:ahh, i dunt understand y people loose the clutch fan, you real dont gain that much power, y not just leave it on
thanks caz..ill let yall know this evening when i get home from work how it goesf s t caz wrote:Comression specs:Standard: 171psiMinimum: 142psiDifferential limit between cylinders: 14psi
remember to prop the throttle body all the way open while cranking
If it was overheating bad (i.e. for 3 hrs ), you'd definatly loose some out the overflow, as long as it has a dump tube All your coolant was boiling, thus expanding. It had to go somewhere8ggalant wrote:99% positive it was from the overflow resorvoir....more updates tomorrow
Be prepared to pull the head and take it to a machine shop for repairs. Also make sure you buy a new headgasket, headbolts, new valve stem seals, and new crankshaft seals. If what you said is true, I would even play around with it.8ggalant wrote:OPERATOR ERROR
So..im late going back to work from lunch...i get outta the car....lock the dooor go to work........*3.5hrs later*.......walking to car goin thru my pockets for keys....none there...oh SH**....walk around the corner...notice the ground in front of the car is wet....get closer...its green...coolant...look into the car keys in ignitions...car still runnin...temps are fine....(i got outta the car...forgot to turn it off...but seein as i have a TT i thought nothing of the car still runnin...so yea....i finally break into the car, cut the fan on ...temperatures still stable....tap gas...nothing....barely any power ...i limp it home...givin it a lil gas in what used to be my powerband...nothing for about 3 miles-tried off and on...about the last mile to my house i got on it and it ran fine for that last few feet...oh...and during that last mile...my hood decided to fly up destroying itself and denting the hell outta my roof in the process...
talk about a bad day....so ...any advice...i wanna do a compression test...isnt there a special tool you need...im gonna go check the coolant in a lil while...man this sucks
so you took all the spark plugs and coilpacks out at once then tried to crank it? im confused on what u said, haha. Im not in VA but i might head up that way soon whenever i go visit scott... and i want to check out fst caz rhd 2408ggalant wrote:well i pulled all the electrical out of the head today (coilpacks, and spark plugs)...go to crank the engine for the comp test...nuthing but clicking...hmmm ok...battery maybe...i put a known good battery in there ...same thing...ok ...put the fuses back it so all in normal w/ known good battery...still clicking...WTF...sigh*...then i had to go pick the wife up from work since im back down to ONE car lol...any idea's on where to start w/ this issue ...it has power..all accessories on...im just burnt out i think...maybe i need to let it sit for a day or so and not look @ it...lol...any help would be appreciated....maybe i can talk caz or another south va member to come over and help me out hint hint lol...more updates asap
Clean your spark plugs, put water/coolant in your car and drive the thing. It's cold now, so it's gonna be somewhat nice to you, but when the engine heats up and parts start expanding.......SHOWTIME It should get hot quick after bursts of boost (if it even lets you boost and not break up). Watch your coolant and water for mixing, but these engine don't seem to be big mixers; just boil the hell out of the coolant.8ggalant wrote:thanks caz it was the starter ...it was really loose...and then the plug/connector kept coming off...lol...then on the initial startup (to warm up the car for the comp test...the rpm jumpd up to 3500 and kept climbing....i was like WTF...turns out the throttle cable was wrapped up @ the TB...so i was gradually pulling tho it didnt look like it was...so after all that was sorted out i finally got the comp test done....first off...i filled up the rad and watched for bubbles....there werent any....check the dip stick and oil filler cap for milky oil...found none (though i wont really know until i drain it)....also its smoking @ idle (white) and under load it smokes heavily (dark greyish color) initially then stops...
now i got no less than 165 accross the board on the three runs of the compression test...so know im thinking sumthings wrong w/ the gauge lol...i mean im happy i got those numbers but it just seems to good to be true....im gonna call around and see about gettin a leak down test done tomorrow
