I absolutely waited until the break in period was over. At 1215 miles, I was flogging it at VIR.bmike818 wrote:Hi, I just got my 2007 350Z Touring Magnetic Black w/ frost int. I love it, upgraded from a 2002 RSX Type-S, the new redline got me to switch. Must say the Z is a monster. I wanted to know how long everybody else waited? I have 480 right now, kinda started floring it, I am so used to hitting 8000 and i barely pass 4K, most i have done is still 6K, can you blame me. This is like my 4th new car so I know to be patient.

I did. Think of it this way. If you intend to keep your car long after the warranty expires, then it's probably wisest to follow the manufacturers break-in recommendations and not to beat the crap out of it for the 1st 1200 miles.. To ignore their recommendationsons just because you have an itchy right foot increases the risk of having other problems develop. What other problems and how much of a risk? I don't know, but I do know you just spent $25-30K for it. If that were my money, I'd want the car to last as long as possible, so I would follow their break-in schedule, but that's me.bmike818 wrote:Did you change your oil before having fun? No offense, but this has got to be the GIRLIEST explanation of engine break-in I have ever heard.Shahsoon wrote:Think of it as if you have just clipped ur nails and the piston rings are the nails, if u pass it over a cloth without filing it will break a big piece off the nail but if u file it then u can ensure no nails will break! correctoo my friend.Ehab from Dubai.
