I got a massive car book (illustrated too!) for X-Mas, thought I'd share some things:

- The Audi TT Quattro was built on the VW Golf platform

-Even Bugatti's very first car was a beast. It had an 8 cyl motor way back in 1930!

- The Ferrari F40 (built from 1987-1992) came stock with SParco racing seats and harnesses.

- Ferrari's F50 was built with a complete carbon fibre body.

-Whenever someone asked what Enzo Ferarri's favorite Ferrari was, he would always reply "The next one."

- The Honda S800 was a sporty roadster, and the first car to be exported by Honda. Only 11,406 were made.

- The idea behind the Honda NSX was to rival cars made by Ferrari.

- At the time of it's design, the 1999 Honda S2000 was the worlds most efficient engine. (HP/Litre)

- Lamborghini hired Marcello Gandini to design their Diablo for them.

- Until being taken over by Audi in 1998, Lamborghini had no plans to success the Diablo. Audi however, felt it was necessary, and immediately began work on a new monster, the Murcielago. It's driven by an Audi designed 4WD system, and is a flawless supercar in todays market.

- The Maserati that lives down the street from me produces 385hp at 7,000rpm! It can reach 175mph!

- The infamous McLaren F1 engine, producing 627bhp, was designed and built by BMW motors.

- The Pagani Zonda C12 supercar is driven by a 555hp Mercedes Benz engine (12 cyl.)

- The "MR", in the Toyota MR2's means "Midship Runabout".

- The Toyota MR2 was designed to look as if made of origami ( 1984-89 models)

- Roger Moores car in the 60's show, "The Saint", was a Volvo P1800

I'll post more later!Oh, and the Toyota MR2 comments were spoken by Toyota representatives, not just some bum on the street.

Wasn't it a Lotus Elan? For bonus points, what did her partner drive?

Steed drove several different Bentleys from the early thirties, for the most part, he drove a Bentley Speed Six. I saw one episode where he drove an AC 428. A real monster car.

If I am not mistaken, the Golf and the Beetle ARE on the same platform, so if that really is the case, then all the three, Golf, Beetle and TT are all share.

Reggie: A4 and Passat are on the same VDubya platform, but not same platform as Golf/TT/Bug. oK Mr. Triviameister, what did Maxwell Smart drive?

As far as the S2000, I thought it was the hightest hp/liter (most efficient) normally aspirated gasoline passenger car engine.

I'm not sure I'd call the Murcielago flawless. It's obviously no slouch but that's very subjective statement. There are other supercars that are probably better. McLaren F1, Enzo Ferrari.

Not yet man! It should be here either today or tomorrow. It was in Vancouver on the 24th, and it passed customs inspections no problem, so I'm hoping any day now.

Max Smart drove a Sunbeam Alpine (not a tyger). For a few shows he had a Karmen Ghia.

The first car I ever owned was a Sunbeam Tyger. Truely a unique creation.

Did the Tyger have the 260 cid as opposed to the later Tiger II 289 cid?

I'm pretty sure the early Tigers had the 260 motor.

The majority of Tigers, all of the Series I cars, had the 260 motor. The Series II car came out in 1967 with the 289. I had a '66 Series I while in high school and my first year in college. It was fast but the brakes SUCK big time. I replaced it with a Jensen Healey.

I wish I still had the Tyger.

(The Tyger spelling is an ongoing joke I have with a friend)
