Hey, have you guys here heard about the Bugati(sp?) coming out soon? It has 1000 BHP supplied by a quad- turbo W16 engine (which is actually 2 V8 twin turbo's nexto to eachother.) The top speed is 256 mph, 186 with the limiter, 0-60 in approx. 2 sec, 0-180(I think) in just shy of 7 seconds. Holy cow, I think I just crapped my pants.:toilet

yeah VW-owned bugatti plans on releasing a 800 or 1100 BHP Veyron. Yeah, thats a lot. i heard last that plans for either a NA W16 motor (800hp) or a twin turbo W16 (1100hp) whether or not it will happen, i dont know. the motor exists, and runs. they fired up a turbo w16 at an auto show maybe a year ago? anyways, theres a video of it around somewhere...

The Veyron 16/4 is very much scheduled to come out. Right now the car is in its endurance testing phase, but is supposed to be available in tiny quantities by the 2004 model year.

I am a huge fan of VW engines and am very excited to see this monster come into being. Over 1000 horsepower and 1240 NM of torque will definitely claim a few records. In fact, I'm pretty sure that VW has its sights directly set on AMG's top speed record.

The bugatti website is excelently done, and they have a few videos of the design process. Its pretty interesting and worth a look.

I was watching TechTV a few days ago..they were showing all the concept cars and stuff...They showed a bike with the Viper engine in it. Top speed of 300mph, 0-60 in 2.3secs, and I forget how much HP. I don't think it was quite up to 1,000 though.

There was also an article on it in the most recent Evo magazine.

Yea! I was just talking to a friend about this. I didn't know he was talking about a new car though. I thought he was talking about the W16 Bugatti that came out in the early 90s. Now I believe him.

You talking about the EB110? Because if you are, that was a V-12, not a W-16.

It was a 3.5L, 5 valve/cylinder, V-12, quad turbo, that suposedly lagged like a mother****er for having such small turbos.

I'm talking about that one that somebody posted a picture of before. Remember that post where everyone talked about their dream car? It was a couple months ago probably.

If I remember correctly, I think the new ones are selling for just shy of $1,000,000. I also think that they are only making like 300 of them, then any more that are wanted have to be custom ordered.

just for clarification the w-16 is not two v8's put together, the whole w idea is based off the vr6 motor and w8 it's more similar to a str8 16 cylander, the pistons go in like a w... just a little side note those things look downright nasty...anyone wanna go in and buy a w16 and put it in a gti rabbit??? 1000hp in the vw equiv of a crx..dayum

Yeah, it's more like V inside a V rather than 2 V's side by side. Like a W8 looks the same as a V8, but the pistons on each bank are offset rather than in line.

You make 100,000 a year? Wow. Hehe. I'd guess the car would be close to a million dollars. Considering lamborghinis and mclaren F1s are in the half million dollar area, I'd think this bugati monster would be well over half a million.

Nick.

McLaren's are well over the half million mark. They are right around $1M. For a U.S. legal one, they were about about $1.2M. On the other hand, Lamborghini's are a good chunk less than a half mil.

I think that one that somebody posted a link to the other day that was for sale was an LM.

Aren't all the LM's orange? I wonder what that guy is asking for it. It was an orange one.

Honestly, if you guys are interested in this car, check out http://www.bugatti-cars.com - amazing site, more amazing car.

You can also go to http://www.vw.com and check out the information on the W12 Passat engine. They have a flash presentation that will give you a real good idea of how it works.

The Veyron will NOT be purely a drag car.

i remember reading about this car in a magazine about a year ago, but if it has all that torque, how do you keep the wheels from spinning? is it awd, or just have some fat as rubbers on the back? but its also mid-engine so that helps alot. but still, thats alot of touque.

Yeah, it's all wheel drive.

I can't even imagine driving a mid engined/all wheel drive car.
