Hey,

I've got some pretty worn 16" Altima rims on my s13, and am needing some new rubber as well.I'm thinking of 17 x 8.5 +25 rear 17 x 8 +25 front with 225/35/17's. I've got tein s-tech springs with koni shocks. I have gone from knowing absolutely nothing to knowing actually very little about what size rims/tires I want, all I know is I want 17's that aren't sunken like the titanic, and I don't want to sacrifice all my tread for bigger rims. Would the 225/35 be a good thickness or could I got a bit higher maybe?Anyway, the question at hand:

Did you purchase your rims and/or tires online, or did you go somewhere local and order them there?I'm somewhat skeptical to order online, but I want to know if it's like anything else where you can safely get them online without having to worry too much about getting the right size/offset.

Thanks in advance fellas.

First, I'd say if you're only going with 8-8.5", then stick with the same size and offest all around. Tire rotation is wonderful. For tire size, I think 35 may be a bit too low profile. I'd say go 225/40 or 225/45.

As for purchasing online, I bought my wheels online and was quite happy with them (they were custom though, so that might not help you out). I have also purchased tires through tirerack.com several times as well as brick and mortar shops. I prefer online, because they send me the tires and then I just take them to a shop to have mounted. I do my research before buying a tire, so I don't appreciate some guy telling me to buy some other more expensive and lower performance tire or pressuring me into buying a service plan or whatever. I'm not saying all shops are like that, as I have been to a few good ones that were genuinely knowledgeable and helpful.

Also, online tends to be less expensive in general. I'd say call around and see if a local shop will price match an online retailer. If not, then just make sure that you aren't paying both tax and shipping for an online order.
