Here is what I found:

For 2007-2008, both the S and SL sedans could be configured with the 6 spd
For 2009-2011, Only the S sedan could have the 6 spd. The base model has a 5 spd and SL models use the CVT

I hope this helps! happy hunting!

I suspect one will be hard to come by though since the sedan wasn't as popular as the hatch to start with and I suspect a lot of them use the CVT or the Automatic transmission

The 6 sp is a pos. Not enough overdrive in 6th gear.

S'ok, I guess I could always put some taller tires on if I want less fwy buzz. My current hatch is over 4000 rpm at 80mph and it doesn't really bother me.

So the 6MT is only mated to the 1.6L? Or were there some built with the 6MT mated to the 1.8L? I've got time to look around for the right one. So if its rare like you guys say, that is ok.

I have a 2009 Versa S sedan with the MT-6 and 1.8L engine and I bought it in Feb 2009. I currently have 26070 miles on it and the average MPG over these 26K miles is 33.4 MPG with a high of 40.4 and a low of 27.5. As Boxcarbill mentioned in the post above, 6th gear does not have enough overdrive in it. Normal shifting is 1-2-4-6.

There are NO 1.6 versas with a 6 speed. ONLY the 1.8 had it available.

I have the tallest tires that will fit and they only give me an additional 8% overdrive. I wish I could get 3.50 final drive gears. I won't do over 3k rpm max cause the mpg drops like a stone and high rpms are the fastest way to start burning oil.

I prefer the 1.8L so that works. I'll test drive the 6spd beforehand if I decide to get one. Thank you guys.

I may end up just waiting for a 2012 1.6 5spd instead. All the used prices I've been seeing are the same as if I get a brand new manual with new warantee. The 2012 rio sedans look nice also. A couple grand more expensive, but also 30 more horses than the nissan 1600.

The electronic throttle lag time becomes very noticeable with a manual transmission. You have to get off the gas pedal BEFORE you push in the clutch. It took me a long time to get it right. I really like my 07 hatch. If the transmission had the proper ratios the car would be perfect. GL.

Thank you. The low price and low weight are the two factor that draw me to these Versas. Its fun driving light weight cars. '12 Rio has about the same weight as '12 Versa and the price isn't bad. Maybe I'll start a comparison thread..

I looked at used Versas and they are all priced very high, even if I have the patience to wait a few months for a used 6spd 1.8 Versa to come up for sale, probably it will be priced so high I'd be better of going with a new '12! Man these things do hold value.
