Did they ever come from the factory like this?

I recall reading/hearing somewhere that the last 2001 I30s off the assembly line before the changeover to the I35 came with the I35-style grill but still had the I30 taillights. I also seem to recall seeing one on a dealer lot like that once, but that would have been a few years ago so can anyone confirm or deny this?

Yeah I searched all over the net and really couldn't come up with anything. There are a few references to '02 I30s though. There is also a precedent for this kind of thing: the 1993.5 G20s were a mix of 91-93 and 94-96 parts. Some had the chrome grill, others had the body-color grill.

Yeah, but most references I have seen for 2002 I30's is simply a type-o. I'm not saying its not possible, just that I have not heard nor "noticed" any I30's with '02-04 I35 fronts (unless someone did it intentinally as an upgrade).

Yeah that's what I figured too. I'm not sure if they exist either. Unfortunately Infiniti sales charts don't help either because the I30 and 35 are considered the same model.

The only way to find out for sure would be to have an "inside guy" with NNA. Even then, its doubful it could be validated.
