I just did the unspeakable/unthinkable this morning and shelled $7500 of my hard-earned money for a very mint 1993, 100K, Z32, manual, convertible. I haven't delivered the news to my mechanics yet, planning to soften the blow with some booze.

Besides, oil change, liquids, and breaks, what else shall I check? The car sounds and drives with no vibrations, there is a very slight rattling sound at low gear/low RPM which doesn't bother me at all.

Also, I am going to change the battery and I am debating between a $400 Odyssey red and a $200 Duralast Platinum. Of course, this car deserves only best-of-the-best but why is it so expensive. Can I put an AGM battery? Some videos say that one should not upgrade to AGM because of overcharging/whatever. Am I overthinking it and typing too much instead having the top down and driving on 1?

Ah, and I have to replace the antenna. Right now the white pinion cable that ejects/retracts the antenna is out and in a knot. Do I buy the mast only or the whole thing? Do I need the OEM mast?

P.S. I am in Oakland, CA.

You will probably want to replace all filters then give a really close inspection to all of the rubber parts on the vehicle. Tires of course.
You might have a bad rubber bushing in the driveline which is causing the clunking sound.

Depends on how deep your pockets go. As you've already said; all fluids and brakes is the easy "must" the more difficult/expensive is the timing belt, knowing its good is an absolute must and unless you have proof that its new or it looks absolutely new with no cracks on the cogged side it needs to be changed. These would be followed by Dan's suggestion of all vacuum lines and have your suspension checked. If the car has all factory exhaust the rattling may be the cat disintegrating and rattling in the pipe. I've ran both liquid acid and AGM batteries in multiple Zs with no issue over the last 19 years. I've never heard of an aftermarket mast fitting the Z32 housing but then I've not done extensive research on that either. Every Z I've ever owned has had a broken mast, I have always ended up yanking out the guts and plugging the hole. The car has a secondary antenna plug inside the dash for the antenna in the windshield surround (don't remember if its front or back) works almost as well as the mast for reception. Basically if this is going to be a second car then take care of the things mentioned above and enjoy. If this needs to be a semi daily drivable vehicle then put away $5k relegated for the what ifs and enjoy.
