How impotant is it? My installer got a GARBAGE ENGINE FROM VENUS AUTO. IT did not come with an ignitor, but it did come wirth low compression in 2 cylinders.. Woo HOO!.Anyway... it looks like the connectors are different and will not plug into an ignitor. I'm thinking something is wrong, as I think ALL NDIS motors require an ignitor. But the installer says it probably doesn't need one. They pulled a spark plug and it did spark, it was strong enough to ignite starting fluid vapors. However I think because there is not ignitor the spark is weak and will not ignite gas (BTW the enine does not turn over except when starting fluid is used).Oh well there is a lot more to this story and just wanted to double check if rb25's had ingitors. Thanks

I doubt it here's a pic: http://home.earthlink.net/~4rc4ne/RB25DET-2.jpg

One other strange thing I noticed is the 2 plugs on the throttle body, all rb25's I've seen have just 1 plug. What's with this motor? Is it some freak or something?edit: OH well I found one on YAhoo japan auction with 2 plugs.

see those empty boltholes on the top backend of the motor between the valvecovers? There should be an ignitor there, how you are getting spark without one is interesting. There should be a plug at the end of you coil subharness with six or seven pins on it, that is what plugs into the ignitor. Your motor looks like an R33 RB25DET and those need an ignitor. Have the shop your dealing with get the right ****! I feel their pain but that is between them and the cheesy engine supplier they chose to deal with, they need to do right by their customer, you.

Yes I myself tried looking for the plugs but I did not see any. look at this plug http://home.earthlink.net/~4rc4ne/plug.jpgOne side is coming from the ecu, the other goes to the coils. 1 is female the other is male. An ignitor can not possibly go between them. Maybe they got an r34 rb25 harness and ecu with an r33 engine? I'm confused/depressed/ and out of cash

Your installer should take care of you, that why your paying him for...Not all Venus motors are premo but they useally complete when the leave there. several of our customers have supplied motors for the swap from them and thay have been good with 180psi compression in all cylinders, with all the parts...Call them and they will probly provide what missing.. Did you buy the engine or the installer?????? If he did then he should get the parts...

As far as I could tell no. This swap has gone on soooooooooooooo long, I just want my car completed. The first engine was lost/stolen and they got this second engine from Venus. I'm worried they'll just get a another engine use the same harness and it won't start.Do you have any engines in stock grumpy? maybe you guys can work out a deal? ;)

The easiest way to find the connections to the igniter, the six pin plug anyways, is to follow the wiring from the ignition coils on the spark plugs. They end up at the ingniter, which should be right on top by CYL 6. The seven pin plug should be close by, coming from the intake manifold side.
