I hope you are not serious!turtl631 wrote:Why exactly are they so sweet? Unless you have sticky tires or drive HARD for 15+ minutes, the stock brakes are fine with decent pads/fluid. Especially with the stock master cylinder, bigger brakes will only make you lock up the tires easier. The true benefit comes with track driving on really sticky tires.
He's right.Nothing wrong with getting Z brakes, just admit to yourself youre doing it for the bling factor...Nissan-S14 wrote:Why exactly are they so sweet? Although I cant speak for people who have the Z brakes without master cyl. I got my brakes with the Z32 master cyl. And for those of you who think there is no difference, only in the track. You seriously need to drive the two cars one with tiny winny brakes that stock 240s have and then drive the car with 4 piston brakes. And then if you still think there is no difference, well then I give up.IWannaS15 wrote:He's right.Nothing wrong with getting Z brakes, just admit to yourself youre doing it for the bling factor...
I had stock brakes with hawk pads, no lines but with the DOT4 or 5 Cant recall. But still the difference is night and day, you just cant even compare the two. I mean, it is possible that the BMC had a lot to do with it, I cant argue how it feels with the stock MC. I use to HATE the stock brakes on my 240, thats why that was the first upgrade I did. I always thought to my self, how can this car have such terrible brakes.nismofly wrote:did you ever try the stock brakes with new pads, lines, rotors, and fluid?
Thank you!yellow_jacket wrote:I have stock brakes on my S14 and Z32 brakes on my S13. The difference is night and day. I am running the 30mm and using the stock MC. The Z32 brakes just have much better bite.
As far as just being for track use, the best part of the upgrade is that they will withstand track use without fading. But it is also very nice around town. The brakes themselves do not give you more stopping power. If your leg is strong enough, you will be able to lock them down with the stock set, or the z32 set. I could lock them down before I changed them from stock to the Z's.
The dust shield: It is there to keep debris out, it can also help with keeping water off. Cold water and very hot brake rotors do not mix. I have had things get caught in my brake assemblies since removing the dust shield, kinda sucks, but its never done anymajor damage.
word of advice, take it from your SIG,nismofly wrote:you need to drive a car not just with pads and fluid, but with pads, lines, rotors, and new fluid
youre just driving on the street correct?
