Yup thats right , the revrend was back on the lakes yesterday , haveing a hard time finding the bluegill and crappie so i left the anchors up and left the boat drift along with the wind, got a coupel of nice ones (9-10 inch) and had a few beers ... but this lake is fairly shallow (3-6 feet) so im not sure how fish react on a shallow lake with no thermocline in hot arse florida ....

anyway got and fishermen out here ? gonna start my bass stuff next week since i got a pole last week for bass so now i just need to figure out some good bait to use for bass , all i got are repalas

set my other pole set up for alligator gar , man those things are fun to reel in

I went fishing a few weeks ago off Barnegat Point and caught eight bluefish and a "bonita" (sic?) which was a flat, fluke-type fish. I ate the bonita later that day. It tasted good. Didn't take home the bluefish, though - don't like them. I let the skipper keep them.

I kind of like sailing better than fishing, it's more fun IMO and less bloody...:icesangel

Meantime, you sail? It's one of my favorite hobbies...I dont know which I like more, sailing or cars...probably sailing! As for fishing...I'm looking at getting a bowfishing setup (for my compound bow) and ridding my marina of Gar.

I have a friend who owns a small sailboat ('19? maybe shorter) down at a marina on the Delaware River, we go out for a sail every so often on the river. I've been learning the ropes, no pun intended. It's a lot of fun, I definitely like it better than a motorboat. Nothing like having the whole side of the boat nearly in the water, as it tilts in the crosswind!

MEAN TIME WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU A BONITA IS FLAT? THEY ARE STUPID A BONITA IS A OFFSHOOT OF THE SPANISH FLYFISH FAMILY, SO THEY ARE NO WAY NEAR FLAT. THEY ARE BLODDY AS HELL, BUT GOOD TASTING IF YOU FRY IT UP RIGHT. I REMEMBER WHEN I USED TO SPEND MY SUMMERS AT POINT PLEASENT WITH MY FAMILY.... I USED TO GO FLUKE FISHING LIKE EVERY OTHER DAY. NOW IF YOU WANT TO GO FISHING, TRY MAKO SHARKING.... THAT'S AN ADRENALINE RUSH.

Nothing like being in a 14 foot boat...planed out on a reach in 35-40 knts. of wind and it being 38 degrees outside :D Have fun learning to sail, and just remember...they aren't ropes, they are lines ;)

Oh yeah, sorry skipper...:)

At least I remembered it's called a "head"!

The dude who told me it was a bonita had somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-9 Coronas in his system at the time, so his designation was highly dubious to say the least. I dunno, all I know is, it tasted good off the skillet with a little butter and cilantro.

LOL IT'S ALL GOOD. WAS IT A FLUKE (BROWN WITH BLUEISH-PURPLE DOTS?) OR EVEN AN EARLY SEASON HALIBUT?

It was kind of like a flounder, almost. A real flat, pancake-like fish, whitish-gray in appearance, some dark dots towards the top. It wasn't very big, it was much smaller than the bluefish we were reeling in, I guess like about 8 inches in length and maybe 7 inches in cross-section. The guys on the boat made a big deal when I caught it, they said it was an unusual fish to find in that area (off the central Jersey coastline) and one dude said it was a bonita. That's about all I can tell you, it could have been Charlie the Tuna for all I know about fishies.

Point Pleasant is more north than I usually go. Most of the time I stick to LBI and all points south (OC, AC, Avalon, North Wildwood etc.) I think I was there as a kid and got zapped by a jellyfish pretty bad.

I must say, they've really cleaned up the Jersey shore since I was a kid, there used to be all kinds of nasty lifeforms in the water back in the 80's, and most of them liked to sting human beings. It's so much better now.
