:wavey: So I recently traded my motorcycle for a 98 Q45 that I think is in questionable condition.....The body is in good shape, other than it needing a driver side front fender.....So here's a list of problems/possible problems with it maybe someone can help me figure out.

1. It no longer starts with the key switch. ...So in order to start it, I turn the key switch to on position then flip a 2 way switch then hit a push button and she fires up.

2. 'On start up it lets out a loud skreech :squint but settles after a min or so followed by what I think is a power steering rattle sound that doesn't seem to go away...maybe a bad bearing, I'm guessing

3. So once it's running and I go to put it in D I get absolutely nothing....but I'm able to manually shift it from 1-2-D but if o/d is on when I shift to D I still get nothing...turn o/d off and it seems to drive "fine"...it actually manually shifts pretty smoothly for the most part....the warmer it gets the better the transmission gets..Ive only driven it a handful of times....also the transmission seems to slip on acceleration but only in 1 for a few mins....then it acts right after that....despite having to manually shift it the whole time I drive it.

4. It's lowered on coilovers and rides pretty bouncy (doesn't bother me the most).

5. It has no heat or a/c at all. :bs:

6. The fuse for the stereo system isn't getting any power whatsoever and so the pioneer touch screen stereo that it came with is just for looks I suppose. :gotme

7. It appears to be missing the back half of its exhaust...and it doesn't seem to have the kind of get up I would imagine from a v8...not saying it's slow cause it will spin the tires real easy in first gear.

Front the outside it looks good until you get around to the drivers front fender where the fender is all crushed back towards the door....looks as if he had a blowout while going about 45.

I'll add some photos of it....this is my first car I've owned in a few years after only riding motorcycles for a while.....also this is my first Infiniti...I love the look of it and wouldn't mind trying to go VIP with it but with those issues I listed do y'all think its worth the effort?....also forgot to mention that the seats are pretty torn up...the rest of the interior is in good shape...seat covers will have to do for now until I can get to the junk yard

:welcome: to NICO! There's a lot to unpack here - you certainly have a project on your hands. I'd start with the transmission and see if you can get that sorted. If you're in to new transmission territory, that could be a go/no go type expense decision. Everything else is trouble shooting, trying to find parts, etc.

There are 4 separate belts on this y33 - sounds like that is one place to start looking - for the screech - goodluck

Hey hey hey..

Must say that’s some bad a** rims and looks sick lowered (I tried that, I’ll post on another thread but when I tried to have them installed the mechanic was like no way lol).

Like was said, there is 4 belts. Hard to tell without looking but you could remove the power steering belt and see if that’s the cause. Is there a belt on the a/c pulley? I know you say it doesn’t have a/c. But idk if that means no a/c belt or it’s on but just not turning compressor clutch? The passenger side is the power steering and the driver side is the compressor. You can see it from underneath. Tightening/loosening the belts are fairly easy, but the design is a bit tricky.

What city or state are you in? Having done a lot of “projects” myself with the Q, I know a few things. For the radio, you can check the fuse and change it out. Sometimes those aftermarket touchscreen heads just go bad for no other reason. I’ve had one blow, and another start draining the battery out of nowhere. But overall they’re pretty fun when they’re new. Boss Audio revised some of their head units to be a bit more reliable.

Other than that, I would choose a car over a motorcycle any day but it can be a challenge getting a modified vehicle. May go online and look up an ignition switch complete with the key, but idk how difficult it may be considering I can’t even find a 2nd key fob anywhere.
