I just bought an 07 Maxima 3.5SL exactly one month ago.

I had to take it to the dealership this week because of some clicking noise whenever I would turn the wheel (mostly noticed at very slow speeds, like parking). The service shop said it needed new strut plates and bearings, so they did the work and claimed that the car was nice and quiet now.....

Well I picked it up last night and of course with my luck, THE CLICKING IS STILL there!!! I don't think its the CV boots (no grease spill anywhere). Now I have to take it back to get looked at again.

I got rid of my 2000 Passat for annoying problems like this and now here I am again!!

Did I make a mistake? Is this a sign that I should return the car?

Thanks in advance for any imput.

Give them a chance to sort it out. The max is a solid car man i have owned 8 of them and plan on buying a few more.

Thanks for the optimism. I love the car too, especially all the amenities and everything... Its just frustating to trade up and still have issues like these...

No doubt, you made the right move! You should check consumer reports on that 2000 pasat and compare it to the track record of the Max!!! The 4 cyl pasat is bad, but the 6 cyl is worse, don't know which one you got rid of.Any car can have a minor problem, but you want to get a car that has great reliability where the drivetrain is concerned and the Max can not be beat!

Yeah, I picked up the car last night and called them today to have them see it again ASAP, but those SOB's won't see it until Monday. Now I have to sit one of the mechanics in the car and take him for a drive so they see that the problem wasn't fixed.

Automatic.. I can hear the "clicks" whenever I turn the steering (mostly heard at slow speeds like parking, sometimes when turning onto a street).

can you tell which side of the vehicle it's coming from?

it sounds like a wheel bearing to me

If it doesnt sound like its wrecking anything then it probably isnt. My Dad's Murano makes the same noise and he has NEVER had a problem with it. It just makes a light tapping noise. it doesnt sound like harsh metal on metal snapping or anything. just a gentle click. I would say dont worry about it.

In my mind, a clicking/ticking noise is caused by metal on metal action which could be undue wear happening.....I would continue to get nissan to fix it. Especially under warranty.

Yeah, true. I didn't shell out $$$ for a car that makes clicking noises.....

Well I dont think were talking about the same noise then because to me the noise is clearly not metal on metal and is not damaging anything (as proven by the 150 000 miles of problem free driving).

It sounds like a bad suspension bushing to me.

I brought the Max back into the dealer this morning for another look. They took it in right away but I still haven't heard anything. They're probably sabotaging it...lol.

Well, at least I get to drive a Minivan (rental) around for a while....

I was having the same problem, and after having a CV blow out I thought the Axle had gone bad but luckily it was just the coilovers needing some adjustments. Hopefully they figure it out!!

Don't lose faith I've had my car for almost 5 years with hardly a problem!!

Thanks. I am trying to keep the faith. I figured this should just be a minor set back in the long run with my Max

Well, just got off the phone with the dealership again.....

Today's story: The Max needs a new Rack and Pinion........

At least I don't need the car today, on a 24 hr shift..
