I placed a damp car seat cover (baby seat) on the dash in order to try and dry it off more quickly. At the end of the day when I went to retrieve the cover there was only condensed water on the dash (where you see white now). The car sat in a shaded car port for 48hrs. I just went back in the car this morning and saw all this white stuff!

I've tried a quick wipe with Vinylex but it did nothing.

Is it possible to wet sand with maybe 600 grit?

Looks like it may have leached the protectants out of the vinyl and deposited some calcium.

Be VERY cautious. I'd try a few things: First, try a little dab of vinegar or something called CLR to see if it is indeed calcium. Be prepared to use a good quality vinyl dressing afterwards (Lexol makes a good one - blue bottle).

That's not good. Try fingernail polish remover.

I think that might do more harm than good on the old vinyl. It might do a good job cleaning off the deposits... but the acetone will break down the vinyl once it dries up. The sunlight will do the rest of the job and it will start to crack and peel.
