I recently washed and cleaned my engine and It sat for about a month. I drove my car today (97 240sx) and It felt choppy, It would randomly clear up but by the end of my drive it was always choppy I ran the codes on the ECU and found code 65 (cylinder 4 misfire). Popped the hood checked connections and stared down to the spark plug and saw some water, im guessing from my engine wash down. I blew the water out and It ran good.

Anyway, I was misfiring for about 15 miles in the 4th cylinder.Did I hurt my engine in anyway?

its just gas going into the cylinder. nothing is going to happen. and then when it refires its going to burn it off, and probably foul out the plug because of the excess amount of fuel.

I know some guy that shifted from 5th to 2nd. Why he even had the notion to downshift at 90 mph is beyond me. Needless to say he no longer has a clutch or a head gasket.

dont worry to much about the water. you found the problem before to much could happen. just put a plastic bag over your electronics in the future. lesson learnd in my case.

I have done the dreaded 5th to 2nd downshift. I missed 3rd and turned the headgasket to poo, thats how i blew the first engine. It was loud for a whole 5 seconds then, very very quiet as i coasted for about a mile and parked it in front of a aid auto. Missed shifts suck.

dude, s13 is long dead...the only reason i was doing that was to see how much of a beating that motor could take before it died...it never did....it had valve ticking, chain rattle, oil/coolant mixing...it was great...crap would break, i would replace it, but it would never go boom.

i honestly dont know how you all downshift from 5-2nd if your not on the track

i just kick it to neutral and use the brakes

i figure its less wear on the clutch

I would replace that spark plug. Fuel could have pooled, then randomly ignited due to manifold heat and the plug could be fouled some.
