Did I get the wrong slave cylinder?

See attached pic. Old busted slave cylinder on the left, new cylinder on the right. The pin seems to be way too long to fit properly into the new one. Did they give me the wrong slave cylinder, or was there supposed to be a new shorter pin included with it? The bag was open when I bought it, so I wonder if it fell out.

you bought a new slave cylinder, it may come with a pin. Depends on the maker. OEM will have a new pin. Have you tried pushing that part in?

Yeah I tried sticking the pin in, and it's just wayyy too long. The boot is stretched to its limit trying to keep it in place.

where'd you get that slave? I'd get an exchange on it.
