RB20DETintos13 auto to manual

GROUNDS:::Ok, I grounded the engine from the enginemount.I grounded the igniter box to the chassis where the old ground was leading off to the ka..

WIRES:::I wired fuel, temp gauge, orange (choke), the auto jumper so it cranks with key, plus the 3 wires from the other connector...

Whats wrong:::It will crank no problem, I smell fuel, but it will not fire up..

leads me to believe there is no spark...

Should I take the fuel wire off, take the coils and sparkplug racks out of the engine and turn it over to see if there is spark or not?

I tested the coils and the resistance between pin 1 and pin 2 are 1.0 if I set the meter to the correct setting.........

Would power only go to the igniter chip box if the the car is being cranked, or if it is in the on position (so I can better diagnose it..)

Also, I may have forgotten to hook one wire up, where does this go?

And here is the ground:::

The 2 green relays that are near the ecu. If they aren't there then it wont start.

Ahhh, so that is what the 2 green plugs are for coming off the harness?

So I need 2 green relays to plug in there?

Hmm...

So you cant just plug them into those 2 plugs dangling off the harness, they have to be repinned?

If so, where can I get the diagram?

lee - Are you talking about the IGN and ECCS relays plugs? If so, you NEED relays in there or your ecu won't get any power to fire the coils off.

I dont know exactly what the specs are on the relays and dont go to autzone saying you need green relays, if you cant pick some up off another 240sx or a friends you might have to go to nissan.

Lee - those are your ECCS and IGN relays. You NEED the blue relays that are normally open to plug onto those. They are the square things like those in your fuse box in the engine bay. Car no worky without them.

Green ones are not clicking either, do they have to be repinned?

OK it sounds like the grounds on your ECU are not hooked up or grounded properly. The relays should click when you turn the key to ON. If they do not, then the ECU is not getting power and you will not get spark.

I'm not familiar with the RB20 wiring installation, but the RB25 has like 4 wires that need to be grounded near the ECU from the RB harness. If all else fails, you can manually ground the relays to get the power side to close and provide power to the ECU.

Ok, I have been looking for this wire:

*******10) Using your voltmeter, find a wire from the S13 grey plug that shows 12V when the key is in the ON position and 0V when the key is off. Also, ensure it remains at 12V when the key is in the START position. Connect this wire to the white/purple from the RB harness. This will tell the ignition relay when to turn on.

, I found one from the brown plug, the green one.. it made the relays click, but still wouldnt start...

also, the white/purple wire is getting constant 3.4 or so power from the main harness....

I only made grounds to the engine, and the igniter chip..

So, im still stuck trying to find this wire, but I was probably looking at the wrong connectors on the fusebox, so ill go back after I finish my apple :-)

Ok, from the small plug with 8 wires (the one with the fuel pump wire (black/ping)) I found that one of the brown wires matches my exact needs, just like the green wire in another plug...

NONE of the wires in the gray oval plug matches my needs...

I hook it up, the relays CLICK, YAY!!!!

Try to start it, and it only cranks over... booooooo

Pull the key out, and the dash lights are still ON like the key is in the aux or on slot... same thing happens with the green wire...

Help,Josh

Ok if you go on to your 8 minute clip..go to minute 3:02...You say this wire is not plugged in and it is black and white well that could be your problem there because that wire is supposed to be plugged in to this little box..Im guessing some type of resistor box or something. Here some pictures of the wire plugged in on my swap.

I remember when I didnt have mine plugged in it just spun over.I 99 percent sure that is it.
