Hi!

Our general recommendation on the K&N filters is to avoid them! The likely gain is not perceptible really and the other side-effect is very, very bad: the oil from these filters can mess up the MAS and cause the engine to behave very poorly.

Also, a question: what did you mean that Mobil 1 gets you 5 HP on Mustangs? Did you mean the oil filter has an effect on the dyno'ed results on these cars? If so, then I am a bit surprised that this is the case.

If you meant air filter, then I have to admit I have never tried any Mobil 1 air filter ... I stick with stock Infiniti and change it regularly per their recommendations. Gets me the results I want.

Finally, I don' t think the 1/4 mile results on the 2003 or 2004 M45 will be particularly brilliant or spectacular compared to some other cars - their 0-60mph times are around 5.5 to 5.7 seconds or so, depending on various factors.

These are heavy cars, albeit with powerful V8 engines. These Infiniti models (like the older Q45's) tend to have long legs only at high speeds ... very few cars can beat them when going from 70mph to 140+mph!

hmmm not sure if mobil one will add 5hp to a car.

your question:"i just got one and would like to know what did i pay for?"

my answer:you payed for a rare V8 beast with 340HP & 333lbs torgue that is very seldom seen on the streets due to its limited production. With the 03 04 M you are a man amoungst boys. You are no longer a pathetic sheep following the heard.

Ah! okay. I get it now - sorry for the misunderstanding!

I use Mobil 1 0W-40 regularly in my 2003 M45 - oil and filter are changed at 3750 miles consistently, and I have to admit that I do not see any perceptible difference per se in the "seat of the pants" power estimate. I use the synthetic engine oil for its engine protection capabilities rather than anything else.

But, since I have not dyno'ed my car (before or after the change that I did from regular oil to synthetic), I do not know if it had any effect per se. I now have about 43,750 miles on the car (bought it new three years ago) and I am still happy with its performance and luxury mix ...

Since it takes ~~ 10 lb/ft/HP to improve quarter mile by 0.1 seconds....pretty near impossible for drivers to resolve even 25 HP without a stop watch.

In winter synthetic diff lube offers the most bang for the buck since diffs have very high friction until they warm up [150F] and exceed 10 mph. Syn 75w90 can improve launch significantly and noticeably.

Progressive???Is that a brand? Or, is progressive a look that you are going for?

The only springs that are or were available are the Eibachs, but good luck on finding them. As of 1-17-06 the last set of eibachs for the 03-04 M45 where sold to me according to Neil at the tire rack. Before calling the tire rack I called eibach and they claimed they can't locate any 6371.140's for the 03-04 M's and later told me that they were discontinued due to the fact that the car was only produced for 17 months I also tried Shox.com and they exhausted every possibility and came to the same conclusion. So, scratch Eibach.com, Shox.com, Drivewire.com, amp & TireRack.com off your list if you are shopping for the 6317.140 Eibachs.

PROGRESSIVE SPRINGS IS A TYPE OF SPRING.THE WAY THEY WORK IT IS WHEN SPRING GET COMPREST IT IS GETS FIRMER. (LIKE GO AROUND THE CORNERS SPRING WILL COMPESS A LITTLE TO GET LESS BODY ROLL) WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING OVER BUMPY ROADS SPRINGS WILL BE SOFTER WILL GIVE YOU SMOOTH RIDE. OTHER WORDS THEN MORE YOU PUSH ON IT THENHARDER IT WILL GET VS.OTHER TYPE OF SPRING THAT WILL STAY THE SAME FIRMNESS.I KNOW BECOUSE I HAD COBRA WITH BOTH TYPES AND PROGRESIVE TYPE IS THE BEST FOR HISPEED AND BAD ROADS.H&R ARE GOOD STUFF I WILL CHECK WITH THEM.I AM VERY SURPRISED THAT NOBODY ARE INTERESTED IN WHAT CAR MAKES AT THE WHEELS. I THINK WHEN YOU DRIVE THIS TYPE OF CAR YOU SHOULD KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. I BOUGHT IS ONLY FOR TWO REASONS #1 .340 HP.#2. THE STYLE.SO WILL DO IT FOR YOU GUYS SO YOU KNOW WHAT IS UP WITH THE CAR. WILL TRY TO DO IT IN COUPLE WEEKS.LATER PEOPLE.CAUG.P.S.CANT WAIT TO PASS SOME BMW OR AUDI OR MERSEDES AT 130 MPH.
