did any of your nissan dealers throw in free oil changes?

I'm curious if this was a local thing or if it's something a lot of nissan dealers are doing. I haven't received my certificate yet so I was curious how it works for the rest of you, or if they even threw that extra perk in?

I didn't get any freebies, but recently I got a coupon for 1/2 off my next service including oil change, tire rotation, and some other stuff. Since my car is still new, I'll just use the coupon for the oil change

not only do I have to pay for my dealership oil changes, but I also have to wait for over an hour to get one, even if I have an appointment.

They came into play at some point in the price negotiation, but I preferred the cash in the end.

Our Rogue came with free oil changes...unfortunately, they came from the dealer where we purchased it...110 miles away. Needless to say, we haven't driven all that way for an oil change.

it's ok though, because we saved several thousan $ by buying it down there. :-)

I use Jiffy Lube... 10 minuets and I'm on my way. I use Castrol 10-30 oil and have it changed every 3000 miles. As much as I drive, that's about every month and a half. Jiffy Lube web site has a $5.00 off downloadable coupon that is good till December 31st.

I have a lifetime powertrain warranty thru the dealership IF I do all regular service there as well. Put almost 20k miles on it in the first year, so warranty will be up by 12/09 and would like some coverage through the end of financing period.

I took our 20009 Rogue SL AWD in to our dealer for it's first oil change, and boy.....

FIRST: We had bought a maintenance plan which was supposed to cover EVERY oil change (3750 miles), and a tire rotation every other oil change.

The maintenance booklet we just received has coverage different than this, so the "discussions" are beginning..... I may have to invoke the "cancellation clause".

SECOND: The dealer performed our first oil change, and offered to hold off on the billing until we resolved the maintenance plan issue. Generous of them, I did appreciate their offer.

THEN THE OTHER SHOE HIT THE FLOOR........

35 miles later we pulled off of the highway, and after a few blocks of city driving realized the burning oil smell was us, and not the old van in front of us. Upon popping the hood I realized the mechanic at the Nissan Dealership had not put the oil fill cap back on, it was sitting on top of the engine block still. Oil had been spraying out of the top of the engine, making one heck of a mess for the last 35 miles.

The hood liner is saturated in oil, the entire right side of the engine is covered, oil was dripping off of the right side suspension and mudflap. The dipstick shows about 2/3 of the oil is missing, the engine did not oveheat, and the "check oil"light did not come on.

I called the dealership, the manager and the service manager were VERY apologetic, and they dispatched a local flatbed to bring me a loaner and pick up our car. The fact that it took 3.5 hours for the flatbed to show up is another sob-story......

ANYWAYS: I'm PISSED.

The service manager asked if they could keep the car for a few days so they could fully/properly clean the engine/engine compartment, change the oil (again), and check for any related issues, which is reasonable. We have their free loaner in the meantime.....

I'm a bit worried about the rubber components and wire harnesses which got covered with oil. I'll probably discuss this with them, and as long as they guarantee these parts ........

If things "go right" The Dealership name will remain private. But, if things don't "go right", this forum will get more specifics, as will Nissan.

More to follow (in a few days), either way it goes.........

North Plainfield Nissan in NJ gives me free lifetime oil changes. This is a sales perk gimmick and they really want you to get in habit of going there so they can do the other services at inflated prices. Nothings free HA!Takes well over and hour to get it done so I will be switching to Amsoil Synthetic and doing it myself

My dealer is giving me free oil changes for the 3 year or 36,000 if I take the car to them, good thing there are only 12 long blocks from my work. I leave the car there and they drive me to work and pick me up at 3:30pm, I have had no problems with the dealer or the car.

Crossing fingers.

Yep..I have the same "free lifetime oil changes" from dealership that I bought the car from. They actually replace oil for free on any nissan and it doesn't matter if you own a nissan that you didn't buy from them they still will change oil at no charge. As stated earlier it takes about hour or two change and to make an appt. it takes at least a week. I'm changing oil in a local jiffylube....takes less than 10 min. BTW just checked the website and before they were saying it is $750 savings not it is over $1000. So in order to save about $1000 I have drive approximately 130k miles?

No oil changes but I do get free car washes any time I want. I hate taking it there for oil changes anyways because it takes forever.

We received a few free oil changes and Nitrogen in all of our tires. Once we break the car in and use the free oil changes I'm definitely interested in just changing it myself and going synthetic

I didn't know it until I took my car in for the first service, but as part of my dealerships lease plan they do oil, rotation, and nitrogen fills for free for the first year as long as they are done at the interval in the owner's manual. Nice suprise

Yes...Free oil changes here too. BUT, I wouldn't even consider it. Not in a million years. This may sound strange, but while I like the sales folks just fine, and I like Nissans alot, the service department will never see the Rogue. Too risky. They worked on a 2006 Murano I had for a recall, and it took them three trips back to get it right.

When the seat switch recall came in I was really conflicted since I didn't want them to touch it... but it was either them or a 120 miles to the next dealer. Well, I ended up taking it to them with instructions to test, but to not fix if there's a problem. There wasn't, I was lucky.

Mine only gave me the first one free. But, this dealership is 40 min. away. I went for the first free one, but I will do the rest at the one closest to me. I would have loved to purchase my Rogue from the dealership closest to me, but it didn't work out there.
