zzz....bored so I posted
would have used pureONE but meh...
this was the first oil change after acquiring it...@130k
it runs well...dings here and there
might put a drain oil valve later on
car is only used 2x a week lately in short trips (3-5 miles = 8 miles a week lol)
I took out the FRAM and replaced it with the Purolator...as you can see I used more than 5qts...5.25 to be exact...might have poured more though

LOL nice. I changed mine a few days ago @ 138 and used one of those fram filters.. However, the tool I usually use to tighten the filter didn't fit the fram one because of that black coating they put

Good job! Purolator Classic filters are well built and still have good efficiency - 96.5% at 20 microns if I recall correctly.

wisehunter1, there is no need to tighten oil filters any more than hand tight. I would also avoid use of the Fram filters as they have rather lousy construction, lack media compared to other filters around the same price range, and are horrible value for the price. See an ExtraGuard cut open here, and compare it to the Purolator Classic L14610 the OP used. The Purolator Classic is often cheaper than the equivalent Fram filter at auto parts stores. The only Fram I would personally use is an XtendedGuard; see one cut open here. Those are tanks and will easily do 10k+ mile oil change intervals on a clean engine.

Purolator manufactures filters for Ford (Motorcraft) according to their specifications. I believe the Motorcraft FL822 is usable on our engines - it's essentially a Purolator Classic clone.

Ironically, as I type this, I'm wearing my free long-sleeve Carhartt shirt I won from here. :gotme

Does anyone know for sure if the Motorcraft FL822 will fit. I have had several Expeditions and F-150 and those filters are for their V-8. I only use motorcraft oil and filters on all my vehicles if I can because I believe in the high quality of Motorcraft after using them for so long. Just finally switched over to a Pathfinder for better mileage. That would be great if I can continue using the same filter and oil I have been using for years.

This owner of a 2004 Altima w/ VQ35DE cut open an FL822 which he ran for 4000 miles. The filters used on that Altima is identical to ones used on R50 Pathfinders and QX4s (both VG33 and VQ35), so yes, an FL822 will fit.

A Motorcraft oil filter has equivalent media to a Purolator Classic and is built by Purolator to Ford's specifications (silicone anti-drainback valve on filters with "S" affixed to their model, thread end bypass [vs. dome end on PC filters]). Both are well built filters.

Welcome to NICO!

Thanks for that information Towncivillian. Great to know I can continue using them. I have gone over a lot of posts on this site and have been able to do a lot to the pathfinder since I brought it home the other day. Only has 60,000 miles on it and Im loving it so far. The project I plan on doing when I get enough time is check those power valve screws. That is my only concern with this vehicle.
