Are your RCA cables on different sides of the car? The whine is known as "Alternator Whine" and usually is fixed by the Power and RCAs ran on different sides of the car, where's your amp mounted @?

I don't get the first part. Why did you have to add that so obvious information?

well i pretty much got rid of the whine by turning the gains down a bit. its still there but not noticable with the volume at half way or higher. Sounds awesome...much much better than that old stock bose system. thanks for all the help.

like diamond says, keep your power wire to the amp away from the rca cables and keep your ground wire away from the rca cables and positive power cable. also try another set of rca cables. i had this problem before with bad rca cables.

In addition to what has been said...If you can afford to, I would get Streetwires Zero Noise RCA cables. They are designed to supress interference in the car audio environment. You may also make sure that your grounds are in the same location as to avoid "ground loop noise". When routing your RCA's thru the car, try not to run them next to big wire harnesses, the ECU, heating/cooling resistors, etc... I have found that it is best if you run the wire straight down to the carpet and run it underneath the carpet to the door sill. If there are other wires running along the floorboard, try to position the RCA's as to not be near them. And of course, never put them next to the power cable or even the remote turn on wire.

Hope that helps some.

well i have them down the sill on the opposite side of power and remote. I cant fully pull up carpet to run them away from anything on that side that may be causing the noise. But hey...i dont listen to my speakers like a little girl so i never hear the noise..and dont notice a difference. thanks for all the help everyone.

got another question...i have the lowpass on the amp turned on for my 6x9s so they only play bass. Well whenever nothing is playing...like right before the music strats in a song...maybe for 5 seconds...the 6x9s just thump up and down like they are playing bass...but its just a thumping noise... any reason why?

That thump is being caused by the amp. Some amps have anit-thump circuits to stop the thumping, but I guess yours dosent, so you really cant fix it...

You cant really say it will never hurt your speakers, but try to turn down the volume every time you leave your car...

is there any insulation or somehting to cover the rca cables to help stop the whining noise. Id like to get rid of it if possible because its getting kind of annoying since i now have my gains turned up to get a louder and clearer sound. Where exactly are the wires most likely causing this noise diamond?
