Is there any way to run diagnostics on my car via my laptop? its a fairly new laptop 1ghz 256 ram etc, and where could I find an adapter to do so if this is possible.

Damn, that would be sweet.... plug your laptop right into your ECU and it tells you what's wrong. Now all I need is a laptop..... lol

Huh?

You can't hook up a laptop to an OBDI nissan because nobody sells the connectors. You have to be able to plug into the OBDI nissan port ;)

if you have a PDA, you might wanna look at nology's toyhttp://www.nology.com/products.html

supposed to do all that, graph everything, dyno(would it be possible?), and can measure everything(memory permitting) on long trips. laptop batteries might not be able to last that long =p

I can hook up to OBDI with my snap on scann tool. So I know they make the connectors.

Not any that I know of for laptop connections. Snap-on is different....just like OTC. It cost $4k, whereas obdii laptop scantool connectors are only about $200. Never said OBDI is unreadable....just not with a laptop, as far as i'm aware.

Good point. You could probably do it, but you would have to make your own connector.

I wish I could afford an OTC

I think the biggest problem will be finding laptop supported OBDI software.
