I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE and yesterday it started making a funny noise when the car is turned off. It it coming from the front of the engine bay and sounds like an electric motor running. The only way to shut if off is to unplug the battery. Could it be the selonoid(sp?) from the starter?I had a SES light come on last week and never got a chance to get it read. I figure it is an O2 since it is running fine, but MPG has not been that good. A friend at work has an 04 Quest and hers did the same thing (according to her) and it was an ABS Actuator assembly ($1,100). I have zero brake and TCS issues or lights.Any help would be appreciated,Thanks,Chris

Update. The noise stops when the engine control#2 fuse is pulled. None of the ABS relays or fuses made a difference. Ideas????

Exactly what I have come up with, IMO. Buddy on another board showed me a TSB put out by Nissan about this. Anyone ever changed or had one changed out?http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB01-010.pdf

I am new here. I have a 2000 Maxima that has the same problem. There is a noise that sounds like an electric motor after the car is turned off. The only way to stop it is to pull the engine control 2 fuse or disconnect the battery. What was the solution to 1quikta's problem in February? It sounds like I have the same thing.

It was definitely the front motor mount. I unplugged it and it quit of course.
