I've got a 93' 240x auto that I'm having a problem with. Occasionally it won't shift out of first. I've taken it to a couple of different shops and the general consensus is that the mechanical condition of the transmission is fine. The first thing I want to do is verify 100% that the transmission controller is NOT trying to open the solenoid... once I do that I can verify that it is electrical for sure. So with that thought, does anyone have a wiring diagram of the transmission controller to solenoid circuit? I want to backprobe the appropriate solenoid and see if it’s getting voltage when the problem occurs. Thanks in advance.

Please update me on the progress that you are having with this, because I am having the same problem. I have been told that it has to be electrical, and that nothing is wrong with the transmission it's self, but recently I was told that if something is wrong with the transmission, it could be sending the wrong signals to the electronics, making it seem like it is an electrical problem. I have tried nearly everything to fix it "electrical", so i think I am just going to put in a new transmission.
