Consider it good as done if I do ever get an engine built up. Lots of things I'd have done if it came to it.

I'm not buying this whole the engine over-heated thing though. It doesn't appear to be a likely choice to me. If it's not the active suspension pulley being locked up, I'll have to have a further diagnosis of the engine done...

Any way you cut the cake, she won't be ready to come back up by the time I have to leave Vegas...

Sodium filled valves, dual hp peaks, more powerfull heads. The choice is clear, if you are going to go with a new engine, get a first gen.

Used active system pump is ? New is +/- $400 from Joe and Infinitiusa.com. Labor to R&R the pump is 4 hrs.

Coolant boiling out the overflow indicated it got real hot real quick. not a good sign. Again do the simple diagnostics first.

aaacomp sells everything he pulls out from a conversion for $100. I'm not sure if he'd sell a pump by itself or not though. Any idea how many miles the average pump lasts? If a used one is going to have to be rebuilt anyways, I'd rather just go new.

Hey Corey,

How's that nightmare going for you?Man, I don't envy you. Sorry to hear about all that $hit you have to go through. I hope it works out and of course for the better. You never know, something cool might come out of it.Easy for me to say. I guess, I'm just trying to be supportive and positive at the same time.

I'm not gonna lie to you ddrumman, she sure is a nightmare! Hopefully my theory's right though and it will be relatively cheap to have repaired. If the engine truely is gone though... well, I'll have to sell one car or the other. Maybe even both. If I keep the Q once all is said and done I can guarantee she'll have anything but a stock engine in her :) . On the other hand, if I get rid of the Q and the beamer I'll undoubtedly buy a 300zx (or possibly even a Supra or Lexus LS400). A Nissan would be my first choice though, with the possibility of a Toyota family member a distant second).

at least you can buy a nice packaged supercharger for the LS400.

God I miss my supra. I'd love a 97+ twin turbo 6 speed

Good Morning,

If you have to replace the engine, I would suggest buying a salvage car that has been hit pretty hard... they go cheap and would have other parts you could use.. I don't know what a shop would charge to R & R this engine, but I'll bet that the experts on this site know!! The company I buy from currently has 71 1990 to 96 Q45s that will come for sale in the next few months. ( They are all over the country)

Just a Thought, if you are interested post a reply and I will get back to you.

FYI, there are currently 3 1st generation Qs with under 90K.

Thanks bbdaines. I really appreciate it! I would be interested in a '94-95 Q45a. If there are any that will be going up for sale soon, I'd love to hear! Is this a private auction by the way and are all of the cars at it basically salvage/repairable cars?

Thanks in advance :) .

For that matter, any '94-95 Q45 with LOW miles would do just as well!

Hi Again,

I buy stuff through a nationwide insurance auction, they take wrecks from insurance companies and sell them to the wrecking yards and rebuilders. I'm a garage guy, and have a dealer buy for me, ( you have to have a dealer or dismantler licence to buy salvage title vehicles ). I normally buy stuff at the Ogden, Ut auction, but can check auctions all over the country online. I need to know where you are, or where we could make arrangments to pick up a car, after they are bought you have to get them within a day or 2, and they have to be paid for within 2 days!!

Also, sometimes you have to be patient, cars come into the yards and have to have the titles straight before they can be sold. My guess is that my Q sat for 7 or 8 months before it came for sale, ( Oil change sticker ). At this moment nothing is scheduled for sale that has low milage, portland, Or. has a 95 with 72k.

Wait, San Jose has one with 103k that is hurt pretty bad, that makes the price way lower!! and it sells on 7-29-04.

These are open bid auctions, we can have a bid placed online and then hope it wins. I can email you pictures of cars if you decide you want to try and do this..

Oh, I have no way of knowing if they are Q45 A or just 45s unless it is in the first 11 numbers of the serial #

Thanks Blair. I was figuring it would be something like that. Honestly, I don't have room for another car at either of my houses, but I'd buy a Q45 parts car for NICO members in the event I need a new motor... Four more days until I should know as I'll be in Vegas then. Thanks again and I'll make sure and get back to you on that note :) .
