Yes, the sun roof was slowing down in going backwards to detract, so I squirted WD30 along both sides to the tracks. This did not help, and then the sun roof stopped retracting all together. Now, I must reach my hand up and push the roof backwards with the other hand holding down the retract button. I have to now do the same thing to bring the sun roof back to close it.What sort of lube should I use? Last year I used a 'silicone' spray, which seemed to work when the sun roof first showed signs of slowing down.* The only places I can see to lube is along the tracks. Am I missing somewhere? Thanks for your input.Jason

There should be a tool in your glovebox that will help you retract the roof into place. If you don't have it you can use a screwdriver should your motor not work.

Oh yes. Thanks Driver. I have the complete tool bag with that crank tool, that has never been used!Mine is a 93 J30t, formerly owned, but they never even had a flat tire! The tire tool is brand new looking.* So far, it opened a few times yesterday when I assisted it, and then today, it opened on its own once, I felt lucky so I tired it again when it got stuck half way back, so I reached up and pushed it back and then pulled it to assist it closed. Thanks for your post.Jasonsos

I believe you can find the white lithium lube at places like Walmart and Home Depot slightly cheaper than an auto store. Contractors use it to lube up residential window installs.

Thanks Littlewillie, you may be right, although, consider this:we had a district temp drop on Thursday, and now my electric door locks won't lock when I push the remote button to lock and secure the car, but the doors DO LOCK once the engine is started. I must, however, manually lock the driver's door when parked and leaving the car.I think that the battery, about 4 years old, may be going bad in amperes as a result. This could be brought about by the cold weather, of course. This could also be the cause of the sunroof acting up, although I will try the white lithium lube as was suggested by our other member. If that, too, fails, then I am pretty sure that it is the battery. I shiver to think that the motor is going bad as you mentioned. That's likely a high price tag item to repair, certainly at a dealership.I'll keep everyone posted, as you, too, may have this problem one day. Thanks to all.Jasonsos
