I just recently blew my turbo, and then checked compression, pulled head off, and realized I detonated #2 cylinder. The cyl. wall has deposits of melted metal on it and the piston is curled up and in on the side. What should I replace? Just hone the cyl and replace piston? Replace all pistons cause compression reading was 75 on the other 3 cyl.'s? Just get a used shortblock?

how were the walls of the cylinder? If the scoring is deep, then you might be in trouble. If it was just minor scratching then honing should be ok.

ok mainly there is buildup of melted metal deposits in the wall of the #2 cylinder. How do I hone the block? where do I get a honer? and how much do they run for usually?

i would recommend replacing the block. easier, less time. now if you are going to hone may as well upgrade your internals and get the block done right!

good point, know where I can get forged pistons that are stock size at 86 mm not 86.5 cause I dont have money to bore it out, although it might be a good idea because cylinders can be out of true circle cause of age and stress. How much it usually cost to get motor bored?

I'd get a new shortblock...sounds like that motor got put through the wringer.

thank you guys, thats what im going to do, get a new shortblock from someone. Hopefully I wont get ripped, and get sold a crappy high mileage one, What do I look for if I have the guy take pics of the shortblock?
