Well, here's my little dilemma. I fired up my RB20DET'd 240sx for the first time today but unfortunately, due to some idling issues, I dared not to give it a test run. However, I did notice that there were some options on my SAFC II that might play a crutiating role in my journey to end the problems. So now I ask, is there any option on the SAFC that I should know about and what should I be checking for?

Now here is the dilemma. The car took awhile to start but since it hasn't been fired up in 2 months, I figured that this is normal. However, when the car is running, the idle starts moving from 700 to 900 (based on my SAFC, the speedo is a bit off... ). However, this fluctuation is not constant. The rpm will be at 700 for 2 seconds, then jump to 900 for 2 seconds, then just down to 700 for 1 second, and then back up to 900 for 2 seconds, etc. Just wondering what I should check for, and since it's easier to decode using the SAFC II, I want to try utilizing it before I start taking things apart.

Btw, I searched but there isn't anything about an SAFC being used to find problems and also, what the heck is IAVC?

Also, the car seems to prime fuel uncontrollably. Like when I put the key to the "on" position, you can hear the fuel pump pumping fuel, and it won't stop.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

Btw, the ecu reads that there are no problems, but sometimes the check engine light comes on...

Double check the AFC's mafs settings first, then move onto the IACV.

IACV = idle air control valve, you'll find it on the collector of your intake manifold.

It feels good not been the only one with the problem!, I think that you got to set the car as if it was a skyline first (with the SAFCII) you got to make sure that the car is running good before you set it up then tune it ... here you got some stuff idunno if it will help!http://www.apexi-usa.com/pdfInstallation/15.pdf

I purchased the car the way it was, and it was actually supposed to not start due to the CAS going bad. However, after recharging the battery, it fired after a few attempts.

Btw, the car runs rich as heck . It literally smells like straight gas coming out of the exhaust, and this is another reason why I'm thinking that the SAFC is constituting to the problem.

remove the afc from the loop and see if the problem persists.

Just unplug the AFC, as in disconnect it from the harness?

Btw, the car will hold it's idle. Heck, it revs freely but the car does sound like it's going to die, even at 700 rpm (when it dips that low).

Btw, does anyone know a site that shows how to clean the MAFS, IAVC, O2 Sensor, and Throttle Body with a nice description or pictures? I searched but can't find any on the forums.

no you can't just unplug the afc. Reason is the AFC wiring requires the MAFS wire to be cut. You need to reconnect the MAFS wire at the very least. But pull it from the loop and see what's going on.
