Hey ya'll..

So heres my problem today.

This will probably only apply to those people who get oil spray done in the winter time to prevent rust. Anyways, I got my car sprayed before winter time and its a petroleum/ thin film kinda thing that was sprayed on the underbody of the car, the door panels, the gas door and all the places that rust. Over time, this stuff either leaked off onto the visible parts of the car, as in on the door and the rockers or it just leaked there. Anyways, theres ALOT of it and my car has black splotches on it, it looks like a cow. (Its a white A/C). I've tried using a cloth and scrubbing to no avail. Been to multiple car washes that use harsh chemicals and etc. The only way I've been able to remove it is via my fingers and scraping.. Which will take too long if i did it to my whole car.

Now i'm wondering if I should pull out the clay bar.. or are there any other solutions?

Did you try something like liquid ice on it?

Try some tar remover maybe, or just buy some light rubbing compound and it will scrape off much faster. Then yes, you should get out the clay bar.

Pictures would help us help you out. Claying a car is never a bad thing. When the weather is warm enough for you, take a day out of your weekend to wash / dry / clay / wax your car to prep it for the summer!

You do realize that the car comes with an underbody protectant right from the factory, right?

Try spraying a little wd-40 on a paper towel and wiping it.Not sure if it will help, but I have used it many times on grease and oil that gets on my car from normal road wear......It's also easy to clean up after using it, just a quick spray of water from a spray bottle should do it....

A small ammount.

Parts of Canada are very prone to rust and this is a very common practice. Many people also get a heavy undercoating added to brand new cars before they take delivery.

Got mine undercoated for 80 bucks. Watched him do it, and he showed me nothing but bare metal underneath, so I'm not too sure what the "factory undercoat" you guys are talking about is... unless it's the 500 dollar "package"? I also had that crazy wax they throw on in the "package" along with the undercoat at the same time
