Anyone know if there is a difference between fwd and rwd jdm det pistons and rods? i am in the middle of a rebuild and the RWD pistons are all over the net but FWD not so much.

my project is a G20 with a JDM BB swapped, codes 78E on the block, 53J 5R on the head. previous owner spun a bearing and i picked it up cheap engine head is off but the crank nut is given me some headaches but once its off ill know if i am boring or just havin the block honed. if i bore i know what i gotta get, if i stay 86mm i have a question:

i have a couple parts suppliers i will call and ask etc but if anyone knows what part jdm oem det piston/ rod part # are that might help while im the phone. and the rwd vs fwd?

i need to be ordering very soon so i can get this thing out of my garage and on the road

Try the searching through the FWD SR20 forum, it's linked above the thread listing here in Sentra Gen. I know at some point there was a big discussion about it.

The pistons and rods in the fwd DETs (except GTi-R) are the same as in the 'redtop' rwd DETs. The 'blacktop' rwd DETs have the stronger 54c pistons (same as GTi-R) and I think the rods might be a little beefier too.
