So I am getting a na ca from a friend, for free ( :D) but it doesnt have a harness. he says it has a jdm turbo ecu.

i have looked at the de to det harness conversion thread and didnt really find a definite answer, so my question is will i have a problem using a turbo ecu and harness on a na engine? i imagine that the fuel and ignition tables are different between the ecus, but im just curious.

it isnt really a problem to get a na ecu and harness, but i was just curious.

thanks in advance!

fuel maps are different........ i would assume you are going to find another DE harness correct?

what are you putting it in?

its going in an s13 coupei figured the fuel maps were different, but i assume it would run. i was more curious about the differences as in sensors, locations of sensors, etc, betweent the de and det engines.

if i can use the det ecu and a det harness on a de to make it work, ill be happy as itll eventually be turbo. im just curious. thats why i ask. if i dont have to buy something twice, id like to not have to do so.

thanks for the feedback though.

Yeah, injectors for the de harness (ca18de only) are high impedance. So you would wanna use a resister if u get lazy and leave the de computer in there. Since u have stuff out of the car, it might be better to swap the connections and get a det ecu... but thats jsut me. I've driven with my stock de computer for a while and besides running really rich, it runs fine.

thanks for the replies, thats what i was hoping to hear.

i actually have a det ecu, but a de engine, but im glad to hear that electronically they are essentially the same.

what ill prob do is see if i can use my srt-4 injectors (i ahve some of the 480cc injectors from my srt-4 that i used to have) since they are low impedence (iirc, ill check later) but ne way, so now all i really need to find is a det harness.

anyone has one? thanks again for the input. it should be up and going foairly soon. nothing too difficult really

oh and also, does anyone know if the ka24e starter works with the ca18? i doubt it does, but i figured id ask ( mine didnt come with one...)

all i need it harness, starter, injectors and rail. other than that its good.

and ill be perusing the swap threads and how to's when i have more than a min of spare time, so i really appreciate all the help and input. im sure ill be able to answer most of my questions in due time though.

thanks again!
