destroyed ps hard line on rhd

i was taking out the power steering pressure line today on my rhd silvia and the hard line grounded out on the alternator. by the time i disconnected the battery it melted the hard line...so i'm guessing i have to go ahead and get a custom power steering line made. it's a SR20DET so the pump is on the left side of the motor and since its rhd..the hose has to be connected on the right side. will it be ok to run a steel braided hose a few feet to the rack? or should i get my hard line fixed?
