Hi guys, I'm in the middle of transplanting a VH45DE into my Z32 and have hit an unexpected (and really annoying!) stumbling block which has brought a temorary halt to the build, and I could really use your help.

I recently sent my heads off for some work and the cams off to be reground. They've since returned and although the quality is superb, the problem is the engineering shop have managed to lose the eight bolts and spring washers that fit in the cam sprockets. Losing bolts and washers wouldn't normally be a problem, however the M7x1" sizing isn't easily available here in the UK, they would have to be custom made (plus I'd rather have the proper parts to make sure everything is exactly as it should be)

I placed an order with the Infiniti parts dealer in the US that I usually use but when I received the package, it only contained 6 bolts! Turns out they were out of stock of the other two (and also the washers) and they'd put them on back order. A couple of emails later and it seems the Nissan Parts Dept they use don't have any in either and from what I've been told it looks like it's going to take many weeks for them to arrive. I was so excited about getting it all back together but now it's just so frustrating being thwarted by something as innocuous as a couple of bolts and some washers!

Would anyone happen to have two of the bolts and eight of the appropriate spring washers that they could send me? If you have it would be very much appreciated, just let me know how much you want for them and the P&P. My email is [email protected]

Cheers,

Leigh.

P.S. Here's a little pic of the engine in it's "so-near-and-yet-so-far" state as it stands at the moment!

Leigh -

One of our other members has done the SAME swap! Slim (450zxtt) has a beautiful Z32 with a TT VH under the hood.

Here's what I'll do: If you send me an email with the part numbers, I will see if they are available at any of our dealers, personally buy the parts and send them to you. It won't be super-fast, but you'll get them.

If they're NOT available, I think we have a few members parting out their cars - Perhaps they could pull the parts you need and ship them over the pond.

By the way, welcome to NICO - Glad to have you aboard!

Greg, thank you so much mate, that's fantastic! I'll get an email off to you straight away.

My mate John (Dixon...on here as well) who's also doing the same swap has spoken to Slim before I think and I've briefly spoken to Albert (Zgringo)...it was reassuring to know a precedent had already been set! However we're taking things in a slightly different direction and also keeping them both as NA's

Hopefully, by the time we've finished our respective builds my Z should be ready to collect from the bodyshop where she's in for some extensive custom work and a full respray (luckily she's been taken up by them as their main demo car). I'll post a few pics on here of the finished project if people are interested

Thanks again!

Leigh.

Thanks as well mate! It's great to find a forum where people are so ready to help out a newbie, particularly one that's doing something that isn't exactly the norm...a very different attitude to some of the car forums I've been on over here in the UK where more often than not people either ignore you or take the "it'll never work" line! Luckily, I've just found a decent UK club: http://www.zclub.net If you get chance, feel free to pop over and have a look around guys
