I removed the CA from my front clip today and the oil pan has a pretty big dent right in the front. The dent is about half an inch deep and covers the majority of the front part of the oil pan. I was going to take it off and pound out the dent but it seems like I might have to disconnect the transmission to do that. My question is: I know that it is a MUST to pound out dents on the SR oil pan, but how vital is it that I do this on my CA oil pan? I really want to get this engine in the car, so if I can avoid taking the tranmission apart; I'm all for it. Also, I have an automaic transmission on the CA.

I left my dent. The oil pump pickup isn't in the same spot as on the SR so your dent should be fine.

the pickup is close to the oil return from the turbo. as long as the dent isn't near there, you shouldn't have any problems.
