So I recently looked under the car I noticed this large dent in my oil pan. I don't know when it is from. It is possible that I bought it like this and I just didn't notice or don't remember. It doesn't leak and it runs fine, I think and it has probably been like this for over 1000 miles.

Pictures,

Let me know if it looks like a big deal, eventually I will replace it when I turbo.

Thanks-Brad

I would asume the same, but the fact that i have been driving on it, not particularly easy either, makes me think it is ok.

I want to see a picture of some one with their pan off, so i know what it looks like.

I found a picture in the lubrication section of the fsm. It seems that the oil strainer/pickup is in the very front of the oil pan and centered (if not a little to the pass. side). I will still change it when i get a chance.

Regardless of the car, oil pickup location and type of use the car gets, I would never drive it over an extended period with a dented oil pan. Even if the pickup is in the center that dent is still trapping some oil on the opposite side. If it were me, I wouldnt risk it.

then why come here and ask just to dismiss one of the two likely responses u r going to recieve. ur car, u can do with it whatever u want. it aint too much work. all u ned is some silicone gasket maker and some oil. pop the pan off, clean it. hammer out the dents, put it back on with the slicone gasket maker. perfect to do with ur next oil change. its just that i would do that oil change before i continued to drive itgl

I really wanted to see if anyone else had this happen to them, or if there were pictures floating around of a KA with the pan off and the strainer in.BTW, I don't know what you are smokeing but I can't just POP the oil pan off. http://www.ka-t.org/forums/vie...moval

I found this too,zer...-pump

The only way I was going to remove it asap was if some one was like, 'Do not drive it I know from expirience..' or yada yada.

Thanks for the help though.

lol you're right you can't just pop off the pan. take a bit of time and frustration when i did mine on my back. but hope it is ok. but you will know soon if it is pinched or block or something like that..LOL Good Luck
