My car got hit while parked over the weekend and I am trying to decide if it is something that I might be able to halfway decently fix or not. The insurance situation is that I can pay the $500 deductible to have their shop do it or get $583 to fix it myself...

This is what I'm dealing with:

I'm not worried about the scratches, just the dent. How difficult of a project would it be to take the fender off and get the dent 90% worked out? I have some experience taking things apart and have a rubbery mallet like tool to bang on the fender and a big soft carpet on which to bang.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

I looked through the service manual and found this page:

(BL-22)

Which says that I need to remove the head light, the top cowl cover (?) and the liner under the fender. It appears as though the bumper is removed in the image, though it never mentions taking it off. Will I need to do that as well?

Is there anything else that I need to be aware of? Any one know of a step-by-step guide that would be good to follow?

You could probably find a used fender in a junk yard for cheap or check online for fenders or part outs.

If you look in the FSM, (I am not sure where the Versas is) you should be able to follow how to remove everything very easily.

I second the used fender, replce it yourself, and then buff the scratches on the fascia.

Hey I know its been a while, but I have the same problem with my versa. Did you ever fix your dent? If so, where did you purchase the manual.

Thanks in advance!

I got the manual from the forum when I first got the car but the link no longer works. This is what I have, not sure which years/styles it covers (other than my 07 hatch):
