I had incorrect heat range spark plugs which made the car run like s***, and looking for replacements I figured I’ll go iridium. got Denso Iridium of eBay for 50 shipped, and I must say I am very impressed, car starts right away, while before I had to crank it for a second or so, idle has improved and the car is much smother overall. I am very happy with the overall construction and quality. Not sure about the advertised 5-10hp gain, but, I will recommend these to anyone.

also, I’m always looking at my fuel consumption and I will report in a week or two if mpg has improved

Anyone else has experience on these? or other iridium spark plugs (NGK iridium)

Got some pics.old: NGK-R platinum

Notice the tip on the old spark plug is white suggesting it was running too hot.

Also notice how small the iridium electrode is, most likely a cost cutting measure.

yeah but 50 bucks for spark plugs? You should try going to autozone and buying some regular ones and seeing if you just needed new plugs or if the iridium ones are that great.

I don't think that is the reason why they are so small. Electricity will most likely look for a corner or crack to jump, instead of a flat surface for example. So the small electrode is much better at generating the electricity jump aka spark. I read somewhere that since iridium is a stronger material the electrode can be smaller.

Actually, with iridium, cost is a factor in the size of the electrode. It's a relatively expensive metal.

he just needed new plugs.

just some fyi. copper plugs have been proven to outperform iridium and platinum. the only downfall is maintenance. they don't last nearly as long as it's higher priced counterparts.

doi! go copper! i don't have a problem buying sparkplugs every few months of half year, for 2 bucks a pop and changing them... so 50 bucks for plugs?! too much.

i've always used the cheapest plugs. you might have to replace'em more often. but its quicker and easier to get than some expensive *** iridiums :P.
