Hey sr20goofus, where do you instruct at for the HPDE's. In some time Im going to be road trippin, and wouldnt mind a stop where you are at to pay up for some lessons, since you do drive a 240. Im all bout that seat timesr20goofus wrote:there arnt enough nissans racing to justify a spec series. Usually at the most....there are 5 SE-R's and 1-2 240sx in a NASA race. Honda challenge usually has upwards of 10-15 on a normal basis. 300ZX and 350Z drivers all want to time attack instead of W2W, its too intimidating for most people to consider W2W.
so to put it really blut even though im a nissan driver, most nissan drivers dont have enough balls to actually join a spec series once its been developed.
see we can get 100 people to say the same thing guaranteed. Once these people do a few HPDE's a bunch will drop the idea i fear of damaging the car, more will drop the idea because of finances, others just wont enjoy tracking their car is such close conditions as w2w demands in a race, then there are a few left who may race but they wont all be at the same skill level, very wide variety.Touge’ wrote:i would do it
I am usually at East coast events, Summit Point, VIR, Mid-Ohio with a variety of car clubs, NASA, MDA, PCA, Trackdaze.n00b240 wrote:

if its track driving then i'm in. doesn't matter who's there or how many there are or what kind of experience anyone has. as long as i have a car to take to the track, i'm gonna race it.sr20goofus wrote:

One you lay out all the possibilities and realize how the masses react to the track and such it just seems less feasible to support and keep up, same exact reason why the se-r cup fizzed out.
I see lots of people come to the track all gung-ho to race and drive and then i never see them at events again. not to rain on yor parade, but its just easier and more fun to race with a big group that will always be there, Performance Touring (points system classification)
see thats the thing, everyone has to have a decent bit of experience to even get a race license and to even be considered competitive in a race group. No regular track cars are ever going to be allowed to "race" in a spec league, they have to be full out race cars conforming to the rules of the specific spec group, that way no car has 100more hp than the next and all cars are in general within the same capabilities.Touge’ wrote:

se-r cup had 5-7 cars in cali tops, most of the time it was more like 3-5moyea wrote:SE-R seemed to be running strong in Cali until it was disbanded but I guess it wasn't that strong if it was removed. I think maybe if a series was created it might encourage a bigger nissan response.
not to mention that the HC field tends to be fairly fast......faster than almost all nissans at the track events. the H1 cars run faster times these days than the AI guys in their mustangs.nismofly wrote:

HC will sometimes take up an entire run group
HC id say is 2nd only to spec miata for being popular, not terribly expensive, but ridiculously fun and good for building valuable experience
