If you intend to game on it at all, forget it. Dell's can only have their proprietary sound cards and they cause all sorts of compatibility issues in games. The turtle beach is EVIL!! Dell does things to windows, so its not the same as the windows you'd buy off the shelf. Windows sucks enough as it is, but Dell makes it worse. Even more compatibility problems.
If its for school or email or that crap, yeah, go for it. The may not be the most reliable but they're close, and their customer support is excellent (they have taught my 70-something grandmother who's German accent is so strong I can barely understand her how to use the internet and email). Plus, the things are undeniably cheap.
My recomentation:go to pricewatch.com. You can buy pre-built or design every component. They have incredible deals. It's an advertising central, so you get links to different manufacturer's deals. That's how I'm getting my next laptop.
Or you could just buy all the parts, send them to me, and I'll assemble it for cheap as hell. Or give me a list and some money and I'll buy it and build it, equally cheap.
