Yes, the 240SX is considered a sports car by enough institutions to catagorize it as one in a statistic.
Your dad is just watchin out for you, because legitimate statistics from highway safety organizations and insurance companies show that sports cars tend to have a higher rate of accidents. Piss and moan about how its not fair, but these are facts.
Sucks for you that he is giving you heat, but it also sucks for him, as he is worried for your safety. After all, the 240SX isnt exactly your safest car (RWD, no traction control, lightweight, no airbags) relative to whats out there on the road.
And he does have a point about the "pushing the limits" mentality, especially since you are an enthusiast. The most dangerous thing about a sports car is the driver's mentality behind the wheel, and most enthusiasts enjoy the escalated driving experience, but many cannot handle it.
My advice to you: Dont let the sports car thing get to your head, even if it hasnt yet. When a modified civic revs on you at a light, ignore him. Do not take 90degree turns at 50mph, in wet or dry pavement. Have pride in your car, but refrain from physically demonstrating its potential on public roads. Avoid tickets and accidents, and the longer you keep that up, the more trust you earn from your father, and the more he will see you as a responsible driver, regardless of the car you drive.
