Does permanently removing the iacv cause any harm to the motor? I know that by doing so you must adjust the idle with the tb and that sounds simple. What I am concerned about is the fact that with the iacv on cold start the engine will rev high for a while before dropping to 800rpm. Deleting the iacv will obviously stop that from happening. Is that bad? What is the purpose of the higher idle on a cold start? Oil pressure? also- im keeping the stock intake manifold.

Anyways Im building my sr with only the necessities so what else can I get rid of?

already got rid of power steering and AC.

Why don't you just leave it on? It's not really going to take away much from your motors performance.

1. Y keep a part that isnt needed when u can make money off of it.2. less parts to break, leak3. cleaner

so if it doesnt hurt the motor to not have it, as i assume the high revs do nothing but warm the engine faster, then y not get rid of it?

IACV is a nice luxury to have. With out the iacv the car will stall a crap ton before its warmed up so your going to be sitting there hitting the gas for a bit.

If you are worried about making 40 bucks on selling your IACV then you probably shouldn't be rocking an SR and by saying you took out power steering and AC it must be some stock sr20det race car if your worried about power loss

Well thanks for the first half. Planned on letting it warm up on its own for a bit anyway.

the second half- pure speculation. Congrats on making an assumption intended to cut someone down. It was a nice attempt.

I am not worried about the money i gain or loose over it. A race car? f*** no, the engine isn't even in the car let alone assembled, nor will it ever be used for racing. I took out the PS because the car doesn't have the right lines and I didn't care anyway. I took out the AC because I didn't want it. pretty simple. Y do I want to get rid of the iacv? Same reason people tuck their wire harness!!! I think it looks cleaner!!!

Wouldnt you want something that was enjoyable to drive instead of a pain in the a** to get in and have to mess with the throttle to even get it to run and on top of that give yourself a work out every time you make a slow turn cause you took power steering out cause you didnt want to look for cheap used DOHC lines?

Also your other reason to remove the IACV is to make it look cleaner? If its an s13 sr you dont even see the iacv.

Its your call and we are giving you answers to something you asked online. So now if you remove it have fun keeping it running for the first few minutes and now you have to make a custom plate to bolt down in its place

Your right, you dont see the valve. but what you do see is a cluster fu(k of hoses. To me a 240 without power steering is almost unnoticeable and is not a work out by any means. To me letting my car sit and idle for 5 min before i drive it isnt a hassle...

but thankyou for the imput

are you asking me if you can buy mine? its from an s13 blacktop sr20det

idk what the problem is with ur car. I would guess that it could be anything from a vacuum leak to a problem with ur IACV. I have even heard of people with broken water temp sensors and it causes the engine to shut off within minutes of starting.
