My a/c bearing has now had it and it is too cold to get out there and change the bearing. So this is a question for those of you that have already done this.

What is the new belt size for a 1995 Nissan Maxima when I bypass the a/c?

So far I have been told 2 different sizes: a 37" and 38" which is the correct one before i start on this?

A/C is actually just as useful in winter as in summer. You don't want to get rid of it. A/C comes on with defroster to remove moisture from the air which improves defrost function.

+1. Just blowing air onto your windshield to try and defrost will do nothing - you need to have dehumidified air in order to remove the moisture buildup on the windshield, and the A/c does that - it "conditions" the air - the cooling just happens to be a byproduct of that...

Note that when you put heat on it still comes out warm...

You guys have really put me down now. This means that I will have to remove the clutch from my compressor and the one from the junkyard that I got and swap them. I really do not want to get out in this colder a$$ weather and work on it. I was hoping that I would have been able to get away with the shorter belt. Well now it is time to get under the car now. I am not going to waste anymore time now. So hopefully my next post will be that I have completed the project properly.

It is in the 50's the wind is what makes it bad. I got out there anyways and found out that the a/c clutch is in GREAT condition. I thought my belt was what was burning, but now I do not know. I put the belt back on and let the car run some more and smoke up some more. after like 5 mins of letting the car run all the noises went away and the buring went away too. It is running the way that needs to now. Only thing left now is changing all the motor mounts. How hard are they to change and about how long will it take?

Thanks, Keyur Patel

Yeah, I know but I am going to have to work that day. So for now I will drive my mom's 3.2tl. While she is out of town. I will wait for another good day and get out there and work on it. If it comes to the worst case scenario then I will get my brown @$$ out there and work on solving the problem. LOL
