I saw the DEI 545T Auto Headlight Activation System at a few websites and on ebay, it goes for about $35-$40 and since it would help lower my car insurance I'd like to give this a go. For those who might be interested the link are for the installation manual is

http://www.directeddealers.com...e.pdf

I'm not familiar with everything in the manual. For example it says connect the yellow wire (+) to a switched ignition input, is that any 12v source that's only one when the car is on?

Does the car circuitry for the headlights and parking lights use a + 12v or a - chassis ground switch for these two lights?

The manual also mentions using a proper gauge for the wire since it will be handling full power to the lights, should I use gauge 16 or something thicker for the headlights and parking lights?

If anyone has the answer to these questions it would be helpful but I'm going to research them and put them here. When I'm ready to install I'll post my progress along the way. Wish me luck!!

1) To answer my own questions I found out that a switched ignition is an ignition source that when the car/starter is initialized during crank the +12v doesn't turn off but remains on.

2) The headlights run on a +12v circuit.

3) I'll check the gauge for the actual wires running to and from the headlamps and the fuse is 15A (I believe).

In reading the manuel I says there's a three pin harness. The red supplies power to terminal 86 of the headlight and parking light relays, blue is a trigger to terminal 85 of the parking light relay and green is the trigger to terminal 85 of the headlight relay.

The manual also diagrams that this harness goes connected to the car cpu, can someone elaborate on this?

hmmm, I was poor when I got my car so I only got the base 2.5 sedan. Is it standard???

There's a lot of things the dealer neglected to mention with regard to differences in the base and S model. =(

I kinda put it on pause cause of lack of interest and other projects. But my next step is to email dei and ask if that three pin harness is optional or required.
