The Bose that came in our Acura was worse! But I tamed it by replacing the drivers only. The 6X9 woofers in the G are better than the flabby 10" POS they called a sub in other car systems. Far cry from a real good system, but adequate for me. Maybe change it all out in the future, for now not a prioriy.Need4speed is greater.. LOLHotcorner wrote:I'm no audiophile, but my Bose system sounds pretty good to me. Much better than the Rockford Fosgate system that was in my Frontier. Highs sound bright to me.
Yeah... I gotta say that given the highly praised Bose name and reputation, I am very surprised that the system is not better... however, car manufacturers have been struggling for a long time just to stay 10 years behind the aftermarket.ezflow wrote:

Maybe it is just my old ears, or having been spoiled by the 1,400 watt Orion system that was in my BMW 525, but I have the eq settings all the way to 5 on the highs and lows and it sounds alright, but not to what I thought to be Bose standards.Hotcorner wrote:I'm no audiophile, but my Bose system sounds pretty good to me. Let me make a quick correction on Bose home stereo products...Bose "Lifestyle" systems suck; the cube/sub design is horrible. I have a set of the 701s (they don't make anymore) for the main channels and a set of 301s for rear surround with a subwoofer added for extra bass. With a high-end Polk center and main sub, powered by a Denon receiver, it sounds terrific, especially with DVD audio/SACD!EvilTed wrote:This is the problem, your average Joe thinks Bose make good stereo, when they, in fact, produce nothing but second rate crap.
Even their home theatre surround sound stuff is crap at playing music.
It's OK for movies if you replace their amplifier with something more up to the task.-ET
I couldn't agree more, Joe...The 301, 701, 901 line has been around for a long time. I had friends in the Army who had 301's and 901's.... that was back in '76. Those speakers were way ahead of their time. (jeeze, am I really THAT old? LOL).joe603 wrote:

I'm not sure who dropped the ball with their car line of products, but the company seems to be going downhill fast. There is practically no bass response in the Infiniti G35 “Premium” Bose stereo. It’s ok after a sub/amp install, but all Bose will eventually go…
If you want your car audio on the level of a good home system, then Bose does not even enter into the discussion. For me the Bose is fine for a car, because I am not that fussy about how it sounds when I am driving. For many it's a priority, for me just background music. Something to make the drive more pleasurable, less boring on a long trip, etc.EvilTed wrote:This is the problem, your average Joe thinks Bose make good stereo, when they, in fact, produce nothing but second rate crap.

Spot on for me as well. It isn't that important to me. Now, the stereo system I have at home is a completely different story.ezflow wrote:

Yup they were...but the 701s have been discontinued! I would have the 901s, but you cant use them with multichannel sound (they require the tape loop for the EQ). They have put all of their eggs in one basket with the lifestyle line...As far as the wave radio, very gimicky...not a fan at all!BigWill wrote:I couldn't agree more, Joe...The 301, 701, 901 line has been around for a long time. Speakers.... and the amp.J-Owner wrote:I just thought I would point out to anyone confused the head unit is not a Bose. Only the speakers.
If I am not mistaken the head unit is likely a Clarion or at least it was in my J30 even though it says Bose on it.
I personally think the sounds sytem in my '05 coupe is quite nice of course the ones in the sedan sound alot better.
Just my $0.02
